Berrisbrook School: long gone, but very much worth remembering for past pupils including Lieutenant Colonel Ivor Evans, a soldier in two World Wars who helped to revolutionise guerilla and mountain warfare training, and Professor Hywel Thomas, scientist of global renown.
Does it matter that small rural schools have disappeared? We argue that it does matter. Public spaces can support demographic and economic diversity in the countryside, important for resilience as we face the unknowns of the future.

The Cornwallis Inheritance is our first local history book, and the first biography of Letitia Cornwallis, a philanthropist whose built legacy in Carmarthenshire needs renovation. She inherited from her brother Francis Cornwallis MP, but his estate was mired in debts and the almshouse she endowed was not built until the early 1790s, more than 50 years after her death. The building has been empty since 2017, and is not simple to restore because it is listed. Some experts believe it was designed by John Nash, who was working in Carmarthenshire at the time, but we do not yet have definite proof. ISBN 9781399997997.
